drmuris200.jpgDr. David W. Muris, Optometrist, co-author of "Improve Your Vision Without Glasses or Contact Lenses" by Simon & Schuster, is the founder of Sacramento Visioncare Optometric Center. He graduated from Southern California College of Optometry in 1965, and after practicing optometry as an officer in the Air Force, he moved to the Sacramento area in 1970. Shortly thereafter he developed a dynamic personalized program of vision improvement without surgery. Then in 1996, he began offering a cognitive vision processing program to help children and adults with learning and related vision processing problems. Dr. Muris has also obtained his Therapeutic license.

Dr. Muris is Past President of the Sacramento Valley Optometric Association; Past Regional Chairman of the Optometric Extension Program; Past Chairman of the Yolo County Health Plan. Memberships: California Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and Optometric Extension Program.

Dr. Ross Bates, Optometrist, graduated from Pacific University College of Optometry in 1965 and practiced in Oregon for a few years. He was a US Army Captain for two years examining eyes, and since 1972 has been practicing in the Sacramento area.

Dr. Bates has been a member of the American Optometric Association for over 20 years. Before joining the Sacramento Visioncare Optometric Center team of Doctors in June of 2005, he had his own practice in the South area as well as the Arden Arcade area. Dr. Bates is proud to provide his patients the latest in patient care, having recently upgraded his Optometry license to include Therapeutics from the University of California, Berkeley. His patients tell us that he has always provided personal care in a family atmosphere.

Dr. Bates is also a dedicated family man with his wonderful wife Diana and four beautiful daughters.

 

Dr. William P. Richardson graduated from Southern California College of Optometry in 1973.

He started his own practice in Auburn, California in1980 and has worked part-time with Dr. Bates since 1984. He has been at Sacramento Visioncare Optometric Center since 2005.

Dr. Richardson has an extensive background in patient care, pathology detection and contact lens fitting.

Dr. Richardson has been married to his wife Sue for 36 years, has 3 grown children and enjoys hiking in his free time.

 

 

 

Dr. Jim Mitchell, Optometrist, graduated from UC Berkeley School of Optometry in 1968 and has practiced since then in the Bay Area and since 1972 in the Sacramento area.

He received his therapeutic license training at UC Davis Medical Center in 1995 with preceptorships in cornea, glaucoma, retinal anomalies and cataract surgery. He has made and donated over 1,000 pairs of glasses in Central America and Mexico since 1993.

He has employed and assisted a large number of new optometrists now in practice in California. He heads our new on site glasses lab and is proud to offer many prescriptions in about an hour for our patients.

Dr. Mitchell recently received his Certificate from the California Board of Optometry credentialing him to 'Treat Glaucoma in Patients over the age of 18 years'. Over the past ten years Dr. Mitchell worked extensively with Dr. Nathan Ross, M.D. and currently is following and treating Glaucoma patients on a regular basis.
